The Eleanor Foundation respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to information you provide when applying for a scholarship, making a donation, or contacting us.
Scholarship applications. When you apply, we collect the information you submit through our application form: your name and contact information, school and enrollment details, your essay, and documents verifying eligibility (proof of enrollment and NICU verification). Applications are collected through Google Forms, and uploaded documents are stored in our Google Drive.
Donations. Online donations are processed by Zeffy, our donation platform. We receive your name, contact information, and donation details. Your payment card information is handled entirely by Zeffy and never passes through or is stored on our systems.
Correspondence. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can respond and maintain a record of the conversation.
We use applicant information solely to evaluate scholarship eligibility and administer awards. We use donor information to process gifts, send tax receipts and acknowledgments, and thank our supporters. We do not sell, rent, or trade anyone's personal information — ever.
We only need to confirm that an applicant was a NICU patient — nothing more. We encourage applicants to redact diagnoses, treatment details, and other medical information from verification documents before submitting them. Verification materials are viewed only by our selection committee, used solely to confirm eligibility, and securely deleted after the scholarship cycle ends.
This website uses Google tools to understand how visitors find and use the site and to measure our online advertising, including our Google Ad Grants search ads. These tools are Google Tag Manager, which loads our analytics and advertising tags; Google Analytics; and Google Ads, which uses Analytics data for conversion tracking and remarketing.
What they collect. These tools use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at our site (for example, which ad or search you came from), your browser and device type, your approximate location, your IP address, and whether you take actions such as starting an application or making a donation. This information is collected by Google and reported to us in aggregate. It does not identify you to us by name.
What they never receive. We do not send the contents of scholarship applications, NICU verification documents, medical information, or payment details to any analytics or advertising tool.
Remarketing. Google may use cookies to show our ads to people who have previously visited our site, on Google Search and on other websites. We do not target ads based on health information or build advertising audiences from people who apply for our scholarship.
Your choices. You can control personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and block or delete cookies in your browser settings. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Our site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, but the choices above let you limit this tracking.
Application materials are shared only with the Eleanor Foundation's selection committee. Beyond that, we share information only with the service providers that operate parts of our work — Google (application forms, document storage, analytics, and advertising) and Zeffy (donation processing) — and when required by law. When scholarships are awarded, we share each recipient's first name, photo, and school on our website and social media; applicants agree to this as a condition of the award, as described on our application page. We ask for a recipient's consent before sharing anything beyond that.
Application materials, including all verification documents, are securely deleted after each scholarship cycle ends. Donation records are retained as required for tax and legal purposes.
Our application form is provided by Google (see the Google Privacy Policy) and our donation form by Zeffy (see the Zeffy Privacy Policy). Information you enter in those forms is also governed by those policies. Our use of Google Analytics and Google Ads is described under Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising above.
